Final image in a series of three for Force8Wines. Their new website will be launch soon: http://force8wines.com
I’m particularly pleased with this image as it was a simple shot in a dark room with only an off camera flash and a white ceiling to help me obtain a good exposure and keep some reasonable reflections on [...]
Second in the series of three images created for the rebranding of the Force8Wines website, to be launched sometime next month: http://forces8wines.com
Small job done for a friend in Shanghai. Images to be used on their website once it has been redesigned: http://force8wines.com
This is my final image for the time being on Suburbian Shanghai. These buildings tower for miles around this area of north Shanghia. All the same style, look and feel. How this was imagined and then carried out is quite amazing, but so are lots of the engineering projects around Shanghai at the moment - [...]
The penultimate of my series on Suburbian Shanghai. There is something in Feng Shui about having a hole in the big building you create to give you good luck. This is often very aparent in Shanghai as many of the most important buildings are designed with quite amazing holes somewhere in their structure.
There is nothing small about the suburbs of Shanghai. More information about this project is on the previous posting.
This next series of work will probably become my next section on my main website.
I’ve named it 40000 Plus as that was an estimate for the amount of people living in this suburbian area in North Shanghai. To be fair, it could be alot more than just 40000 people. This district and the sheer volume [...]
My final night time image of Shanghai for a while. This is the Pearl Tower, an iconic image for Shanghai. I’m hoping this counts as a more unusual view of the tower, taken from a temporary bridge near the new World Financial Centre.
More of Pudong Construction at night. The workers in their orange hats and uniforms were happy to pose from a distance, but not so happy when I asked for some closeups. However, these workers were not shy and stayed in the cab of this digger for a while so I could get this shot. They [...]
Slightly different to yesterday’s images of Pudong, this one has one of my favourite features - a bright orange digger!
The construction workers were also happy to be in this image, although it’s hard to make them out.
It’s been a while coming, but here are the first few images of Shanghai at night. This next series is taken in Pudong and features the World Financial Centre, the Jin Mao Tower and some of the the construction at night.
So much construction going on in Shanghai. This is a view from the Puxi side looking towards The Bund and Pudong.
These construction workers in Shanghai work long hours. Many of them have migrated from other parts of the country and have no real home here but live in basic conditions either onsite or very close by. They’re a friendly lot as well and very proud of the work they are doing.
The construction in Shanghai is on a grand scale. Construction workers here show much dedication and are very proud of their work. The title for this post is also what’s written on my tax form from the Chinese government: “Thank you for contributing to China’s Prosperity” - it seems appropriate for this and the next [...]
I am a fan of construction images. Here’s one and no doubt more will follow. I already have quite a collection of construction images, if you want to see some of my previous work, then check out my portfolio link above which takes you to my regular website.
The “From the back of a cab” series [...]
From the back of a cab in Shanghai. Roads here are not just for cars, there’s bicycles, people, carts, electric scooters, trucks and everything else you could imagine. This street scene just looks busy to me and gives a fair impression of a more suburban area of Shanghai.
I’ve also messed about with the photoshop tilt [...]
Yesterday was the end of my fake tilt shift series for now. Being that my last shot was of transport, I’m linking today with the start of a series I’m calling “From the back of a cab.” I decided that I’m in a taxi around Shanghai so much that I might as well start taking [...]
This one was taken on a Shanghai Metro one evening last week. I’ve used a spot graident on the mask to choose the area of focus and then extended it to the person with the mobile phone. I think it works!
Also taken last December in the Qi Pu Lu area of Shanghai. Looking down again creates a really good effect with the traffic and people.
A day in the park, somewhere outside and west of Shanghai. Beautiful May Day holiday!
