Taken somewhere in Shanghai.  Pretty sure it was around the Jade Buddha Temple area.

Rabbits, the sun and the earth make up the details in this interesting panel on an old door in Xing Ping.  I’m not sure if there is a story to this scene, if you know of one, please write back and explain!

Anyone know what the Chinese Characters above the door means in this Xing Ping area street scene?

Xing Ping Roof

Roofs, doors and windows are all interesting in these old traditional houses of Xing Ping in South West China.  This one doesn’t have the interesting lattice work like yesterday’s image, but the roof makes up for it!

Looking at the detail of the houses in and around the Xing Ping area can be really interesting.  Here I really like the brick pattern and the design of the window.  Simple and effective.

China :: Summer 2009 :: Interesting Door in Xing Ping

China and doors seem to be a recurring theme for me.  This is one of my favourite images from my summer holidays and was taken in Xing Ping in Guangxi Province near to Yangshuo and Guilin.  I particularly like the old door and the wood piles outside.  What do you think?

The Chinese have an enviable ability to sleep anywhere and at anytime…  Many times I’ve been on a bus or train so jealous of this ability!
So the next few images are dedicated to sleeping in China!
