More from the ski slopes of Cypress Mountain in Vancouver.
This is another one of my February 2008 images from the tops of Cypress Mountain in North Vancouver. Hopefully we’ll be seeing many views from here during the Vancouver Winter Olympics which takes place next month.
Cypress Mountain is a great place to ski. It’s about a 30-40 minute drive from Downtown Vancouver and has spectacular [...]
I’m spending more time on reprocessing at the moment than anything else. Partly because I’m interested in how I now approach using Photoshop with images and partly to see how my preferences and taste have changed.
This is a residential building in Downtown Vancouver seen from the Burrard Bridge area.
Shot February 2008; reprocessed January 2010.
There’s something I like about shots like this one. Part of it is the coolness of the colours and the crispness that can also give in the image and I think the other part is the nature of the urban environment at night - people with their lights on, the street lights on but quiet [...]
The preparation for being the host city for any Olympic Games is a massive commitment. During 2007/8 the city of Vancouver has been the home of incredible engineering projects, massive cranes and many disgruntled locals. Hopefully the hard work will pay off in the long run.
The next series of work is from a project looking [...]
A friend once told me that taking pictures of sunsets and claiming photographic prowess for their beauty was just taking credit for God’s work! Whilst possibly true, I still think a good sunset image makes us all happy once in a while. So I hope you enjoy this one!
Shot in June 2008, processed January 2010.
Back at Canada Place in Vancouver and this time a close up of those brilliant white sails.
This was one of the first images I was pleased with when studying photography in Vancouver. It’s still an image I like and it started me on my current night time photography journey.
Along with the original colour image, I have reprocessed the image into black and white. What do you think works best? You decide [...]
The Harbour Air Seaplanes are a common site in Vancouver.
This image was taken in July 2008 during my time living in Vancouver. Processed January 2010.
Shot in July 2008 just before I moved to Shanghai. This was taken as part of a project looking at Vancouver from the rooftops.
The first image is pretty much what the camera have me with an automatic exposure conversion. The after image have been corrected for lens distortion, tweaked for exposure & contrast and slightly [...]
When I was living in Vancouver I got interested in shooting the city from up high and ended up finding myself walking on several residential and business building roofs. This image was taken from one of the high residential buildings in the Coal Harbour area and shows a great view towards English Bay.
One of my snowscapes from Cypress Mountain shown here as a dreamscape.
Image shot February 2008; dreamscape processed January 2010.

Processed in Photoshop using a ‘dreamscaping’ technique.
I was messing about with a “dreamscaping” photoshop technique a couple years ago and have just rediscovered it. Thought I would blog a few of the pictures I did in 2008 and then try it out again on some new images or images I hadn’t considered before.
Please get in touch if you want to know [...]
