This is currently one of my favourite images and represents life in the suburbs of Shanghai. There has been frantic construction going on for several years now to place Shanghai in the best infrastructure position possible. The domestic Hong Qiao Airport recently opened a brand new terminal and this happened in conjunction with a new [...]
Exposing for the highlights gives this one a darker feel and it’s just what I wanted to be able to show the busy atmosphere at one of the bus stops in the centre of Suzhou.
Seen in Suzhou, China :: June 2010
Another break in the Malaysia image flow… this is the view taken from the Hyatt on the Bund Hotel in Shanghai, looking towards the Pudong area. I took this image a few days ago and thought it was quite good for a night time image using my Canon G10.
Seen in Shanghai last Autumn.
Today my photoblog is one year old. Yesterday was picture 365, so I’m guessing this is the start of a new year! More photos to come…
The preparation for being the host city for any Olympic Games is a massive commitment. During 2007/8 the city of Vancouver has been the home of incredible engineering projects, massive cranes and many disgruntled locals. Hopefully the hard work will pay off in the long run.
The next series of work is from a project looking [...]
So much going on in some of the traditional Shanghai streets south of Yuyuan Gardens :: October 2009.
Keeping the constructions dust out of your hair and mouth is a serious business around the road construction sites.
Images on the metro still fascinate me. I took this one with my Canon G10 one evening whilst experimenting with blur and exposure. I really like it, even though I probably shouldn’t!!
It seems like I’ve been living in cities of construction for the past 3 years. First Vancouver where they have been preparing for the 2010 Winter Olympics for the last few years, and now Shanghai where rapid construction seems to be a way of life - and especially because of the World Expo taking place [...]
That’s enough of Australia for the time being - I’m sure though that I’ll find a few more pictures to blog about Melbourne or Sydney at some point.
However, I’m now back in Shanghai and I’ve been busy getting into various series of work and thinking about what makes Shanghai tick! One thing for sure that’s [...]
Melbourne has so many little side streets in it’s central area. Some of these side streets are just cafe after cafe after cafe. Here’s eight of them!
Federation Square takes in much of what could be described as central Melbourne. Of course, it’s also another place to grab a coffee under an umbrella!!
My final image for this series is that of Taxi drivers in the main busy square in Tokyo.

Scores of police buses were parked bumper to bumper in the city center. Riot police with shields stood guard at corners and subway exits.
Police declined to comment on security operations. Yonhap news agency said more than 20,000 riot police will be mobilized when the funeral procession rolls through the city center to a historic palace.
South Korea Friday deployed 15,000 riot police in central Seoul as the funeral of former President Roh Moo-Hyun began, amid fears a national outpouring of grief would spark anti-government protests.
That many police all waiting patiently was quite an amazing site. Along every roadside, every corner, one could become a little nervous!
Downtown Seoul was a sea of yellow, a colour associated with Roh, as tearful supporters tied thousands of balloons to police barriers along the funeral route. People release balloons during the public funeral of former South Korean president Roh Moo-Hyun on May 29, 2009 in Seoul, South Korea.
