Lujiazui and Pudong seen from the Vue Bar at the Hyatt on the Bund hotel.
Seen today, Shanghai :: July 2010
Another break in the Malaysia image flow… this is the view taken from the Hyatt on the Bund Hotel in Shanghai, looking towards the Pudong area. I took this image a few days ago and thought it was quite good for a night time image using my Canon G10.
Singapore by night :: April 2010.
Got to say… it’s a pretty cool city/state/country!
More of a close up on the World Trade Centre (right) and the Jin Mao Tower (left).
Taken on a (probably the only) beautiful day in March 2010.
Taken from the Bund area looking towards the World Financial Centre and the Jin Mao Tower.
Shanghai : March 2010.
It’s time for a break from the photos taken whilst I was living in Vancouver. Instead it’s back to Shanghai and some more recent images.
This first one was taken on my Canon G10 camera on the way to work out of the bus window. We have had some clear skies recently and I saw this [...]
I’m spending more time on reprocessing at the moment than anything else. Partly because I’m interested in how I now approach using Photoshop with images and partly to see how my preferences and taste have changed.
This is a residential building in Downtown Vancouver seen from the Burrard Bridge area.
Shot February 2008; reprocessed January 2010.
The preparation for being the host city for any Olympic Games is a massive commitment. During 2007/8 the city of Vancouver has been the home of incredible engineering projects, massive cranes and many disgruntled locals. Hopefully the hard work will pay off in the long run.
The next series of work is from a project looking [...]
A friend once told me that taking pictures of sunsets and claiming photographic prowess for their beauty was just taking credit for God’s work! Whilst possibly true, I still think a good sunset image makes us all happy once in a while. So I hope you enjoy this one!
Shot in June 2008, processed January 2010.
When I was living in Vancouver I got interested in shooting the city from up high and ended up finding myself walking on several residential and business building roofs. This image was taken from one of the high residential buildings in the Coal Harbour area and shows a great view towards English Bay.
Vancouver images from 2008 at a time when the city was in full swing preparing for the 2010 Winter Olympic games.
Vancouver hosts the 2010 Winter Olympic games this year and I thought it was time to rediscover some of the images from when I was living and studying there in 2007-8.
An alternative view of Istanbul to the usual view of the old town. This is taken from the old town looking across the water.
From old roads to new expressways. Building work happens fast in China
New construction is everywhere in Shanghai. Here it’s just starting.
The Shanghai Art Gallery is has a great location just off Nan Jing Xi Lu and overlooks People’s Square.
Alleyways and city lights is the subject of this posting. Taken one evening in November 2009 just before it started to get really cold in Shanghai. This area near to People’s Square is undergoing major construction and renovation. The ambient lighting around the centre of Shanghai is also pretty crazy at night!
It’s a busy time in Shanghai at the moment. The Expo 2010 is a big deal and much of the city is going through construction and in many places destruction as well. This image is from a area of the city between People’s Square and Nan Jing Xi Lu.
It seems like I’ve been living in cities of construction for the past 3 years. First Vancouver where they have been preparing for the 2010 Winter Olympics for the last few years, and now Shanghai where rapid construction seems to be a way of life - and especially because of the World Expo taking place [...]
It’s been a while since I took night time pictures in Shanghai and last Sunday was reported to be the last day of good weather for a while (and that’s definitely been true all of this week!). So I packed up a tripod and headed down towards People’s Square and went looking for some cool [...]
All the same and all different.
A series of doors in the Luwan area of Shanghai.
Following on my usual theme of night time blues, here’s a picture from central Melbourne of the Yarra River.
