Hong Kong Airport II :: Infinity View
Hong Kong Airport II :: Infinity View

Second of four images (Okay I know I said 2 images yesterday, but I was looking through my images and found two others I really like), so instead of the vertical image of the yesterday’s plane, I have this image of the walkway within Hong Kong Airport.  I’m a big fan of the white spaces [...]

Hong Kong Airport I
Hong Kong Airport I

Today and tomorrow I have two images.  Each is essentially the same image of a large aeroplane waiting for clearance at Hong Kong Airport.  The lighting in the late afternoon was beautiful and tomorrow’s image shows more of the sky.  Which do you prefer?

An evening in Hong Kong :: July 2009
An evening in Hong Kong :: July 2009

Back to one of my favourite themes - night shots! This is part of the financial district of Hong Kong and shows the Bank of China building (left), next to the ICBC and Citibank Buildings. Can’t remember the name of the building to the far right, any ideas?? Taken in July, 2009.

Bye bye Hong Kong
Bye bye Hong Kong

This is my last image of Hong Kong in this series taken in March 2009.  I was only in HK for 3 days but it was a great trip for scouting out interesting locations and capturing images all over the city.  My day job pushes me to take images at night and to be fair [...]

Hong Kong Shoe Repairs
Hong Kong Shoe Repairs

This man has been working out of his small shop at exit 2 of Central MTR in Hong Kong for the past 17 years.  He’s clearly very busy but also very friendly and more than willing to have his portrait taken.  Thank you and I’ll bring you a print next time I’m in Hong Kong.

Taxi in Hong Kong
Taxi in Hong Kong

Moving into a phase of taking pictures showing everyday life and transport.  Naturally for me this seems to occur when the sun has gone down.  Guess the day jobs gets in the way of anything involving natural light at the moment.

Playing Games
Playing Games

I was returning from an evening taking pictures on Hong Kong’s Kowloon waterfront and decided to capture some images on the metro.  This is one of the good ones.

Hong Kong Starbucks
Hong Kong Starbucks

There is definitely better coffee options in Hong Kong, but at least you know what you’re going to get in Starbucks and it’s always a good atmosphere.  The branding still looks good to me as well

Living in Hong Kong
Living in Hong Kong

So many of the people in Hong Kong live in buildings such as these.  On the outside they look stacked together and cramp, in reality the outside never reflects what could be going on inside these homes.  Some will be worse then they look on the outside and some will be as homely and confortable [...]

Impressionistic Kowloon
Impressionistic Kowloon

I took this series of images to capture the lights, feel and gesture of the Kowloon area.

Temple Street Night Market
Temple Street Night Market

My first time to Temple Street Night Market and I recognised the view before I setup my tripod.  This must be the classic shot of the district with lots of people milling around and the tall residential buildings above looking down onto the market stalls.  To deal with the shifts in colour temperature around the [...]

Catching a Star Ferry in Hong Kong
Catching a Star Ferry in Hong Kong

The Star Ferry terminal is located on Kowloon directly opposite the Hong Kong Island cityscape.  I was looking to take some images of the view of Hong Kong across the water when this small ferry came along and about 20 people loaded onto it.  It just bobbed around in the water for the next 5 [...]

Hong Kong Weekend
Hong Kong Weekend

This is the first in series of images from Hong Kong taken last weekend.
Hong Kong has a wealth of opportunity for great images.  I was in Hong Kong for an International Baccalaureate conference related to teaching, learning and assessment of part of the IB curriculum.  It was a long weekend without any opportunity to see [...]

This is currently one of my  favourite images and represents life in the suburbs of Shanghai.  There has been frantic construction going on for several years now to place Shanghai in the best infrastructure position possible.  The domestic Hong Qiao Airport recently opened a brand new terminal and this happened in conjunction with a new [...]
