This has been previously published on one original website as part of a series of work showing urban Vancouver, Canada.
I really wanted to included it in my Urban Blues collection for the new website and with this improved treatment, it works just brilliantly!
Seen in Vancouver late at night with a 15 second exposure and the [...]
This is most definitely unpublished from before and for those friends of mine who think that Cleveland, Ohio is an ugly city then look again!
Seen from the lakeside looking towards downtown Cleveland, Ohio, USA :: June 2008
Another break in the Malaysia image flow… this is the view taken from the Hyatt on the Bund Hotel in Shanghai, looking towards the Pudong area. I took this image a few days ago and thought it was quite good for a night time image using my Canon G10.
Singapore by night :: April 2010.
Got to say… it’s a pretty cool city/state/country!
Rippled clouds across the water from Ambleside Park :: November 2007
It was built during the reign of Justinian I (527-565) to supply water to the palaces in the vicinity. Its 336 columns are arranged in 12 rows of 28 each. The cistern measures 140 by 70 meters. The columns are topped with capitals, some of them plain, but most in Corinthian style. The water level [...]
The Shanghai Art Gallery is has a great location just off Nan Jing Xi Lu and overlooks People’s Square.
Alleyways and city lights is the subject of this posting. Taken one evening in November 2009 just before it started to get really cold in Shanghai. This area near to People’s Square is undergoing major construction and renovation. The ambient lighting around the centre of Shanghai is also pretty crazy at night!
It seems like I’ve been living in cities of construction for the past 3 years. First Vancouver where they have been preparing for the 2010 Winter Olympics for the last few years, and now Shanghai where rapid construction seems to be a way of life - and especially because of the World Expo taking place [...]
It’s been a while since I took night time pictures in Shanghai and last Sunday was reported to be the last day of good weather for a while (and that’s definitely been true all of this week!). So I packed up a tripod and headed down towards People’s Square and went looking for some cool [...]
Following on my usual theme of night time blues, here’s a picture from central Melbourne of the Yarra River.
Another one of Flinder’s Street Station. This time with a traffic light. It’s kind of similar to my image from KL of the Petronas Towers.
My final image of the apartment building which was formally a factory for Colgate and Palmolive. Lovely building and a lovely sky!
Second in a series of three images featuring the Colgate and Palmolive apartment conversion in East Balmain, Sydney. See yesterday and tomorrow for the other two images.
Looking onto the bridge from the Balmain East ferry entrance area.
View from the water edge at Balmain looking over the Sydney Central Business District area one evening in October.

This was taken in Hong Kong and shows the iconic Bank of China.
This is the first of 5 in a series on night time photography which I have entered into the World in Focus photography competition.
Please vote for this one at the World In Focus website http://www.worldinfocuscontest.com/bin/Rate?image_id=1006811167
This is the Petronas Towers in KL, Malaysia and it is also the second time this image has appear in my [...]
Back to one of my favourite themes - night shots! This is part of the financial district of Hong Kong and shows the Bank of China building (left), next to the ICBC and Citibank Buildings. Can’t remember the name of the building to the far right, any ideas?? Taken in July, 2009.
My final night time image of Shanghai for a while. This is the Pearl Tower, an iconic image for Shanghai. I’m hoping this counts as a more unusual view of the tower, taken from a temporary bridge near the new World Financial Centre.
More of Pudong Construction at night. The workers in their orange hats and uniforms were happy to pose from a distance, but not so happy when I asked for some closeups. However, these workers were not shy and stayed in the cab of this digger for a while so I could get this shot. They [...]
Slightly different to yesterday’s images of Pudong, this one has one of my favourite features - a bright orange digger!
The construction workers were also happy to be in this image, although it’s hard to make them out.
It’s been a while coming, but here are the first few images of Shanghai at night. This next series is taken in Pudong and features the World Financial Centre, the Jin Mao Tower and some of the the construction at night.
