Building China :: unfinished road with family
Building China :: unfinished road with family

This is currently one of my  favourite images and represents life in the suburbs of Shanghai.  There has been frantic construction going on for several years now to place Shanghai in the best infrastructure position possible.  The domestic Hong Qiao Airport recently opened a brand new terminal and this happened in conjunction with a new [...]

More (de)construction in Shanghai

It’s a busy time in Shanghai at the moment.  The Expo 2010 is a big deal and much of the city is going through construction and in many places destruction as well.  This image is from a area of the city between People’s Square and Nan Jing Xi Lu.

Colgate and Palmolive I :: East Balmain, Sydney

East Balmain is a residential suburb in Sydney which via the ferry system is very close to everything. I was staying in a B&B just around the corner from this interesting development. I took a series of three images on the way home from taking pictures of the Sydney City Skyline and Harbour Bridge.

Old and New Shanghai
Old and New Shanghai

I’ve been messing about with this image of old Shanghai (around Yuyuan) with the background of new Shanghai (Lujiazui).  I definitely like it in black and white, but I’m having some difficulty getting the tones to my  liking.  Image taken in October 2008.  Any suggestions?

40000 Plus VI

This is my final image for the time being on Suburbian Shanghai.  These buildings tower for miles around this area of north Shanghia.  All the same style, look and feel.  How this was imagined and then carried out is quite amazing, but so are lots of the engineering projects around Shanghai at the moment - [...]

40000 Plus V - Buildings with holes

The penultimate of my series on Suburbian Shanghai.  There is something in Feng Shui about having a hole in the big building you create to give you good luck.  This is often very aparent in Shanghai as many of the most important buildings are designed with quite amazing holes somewhere in their structure.

40000 Plus

This next series of work will probably become my next section on my main website.
I’ve named it 40000 Plus as that was an estimate for the amount of people living in this suburbian area in North Shanghai.  To be fair, it could be alot more than just 40000 people.  This district and the sheer volume [...]
