My final image for this series on buddhist shrines and this time it’s a montage of 9 images showing the variety of colours and styles of shrine along one road in the Chinatown area of Kuala Terengguna.
Kuala Terengguna, Malaysia :: April 2010.
Probably the most simple of all the shrines I saw in the Chinatown area. This one was full of incense and looked very effective against the large plain wall.
Kuala Terengguna, Malaysia :: April 2010.
Bright and blue sets off this shrine in the Chinatown district of Kuala Terengguna. Some of these shrines must have been up for a long time to be so weathered and old looking. The message is usually the same though and this one talks about the god in the sky.

They still have the box here, but it looks like the phone disappeared a long time ago!
Another break in the Malaysia image flow… this is the view taken from the Hyatt on the Bund Hotel in Shanghai, looking towards the Pudong area. I took this image a few days ago and thought it was quite good for a night time image using my Canon G10.
It’s time for a break from the photos taken whilst I was living in Vancouver. Instead it’s back to Shanghai and some more recent images.
This first one was taken on my Canon G10 camera on the way to work out of the bus window. We have had some clear skies recently and I saw this [...]
More from the ski slopes of Cypress Mountain in Vancouver.
This is another one of my February 2008 images from the tops of Cypress Mountain in North Vancouver. Hopefully we’ll be seeing many views from here during the Vancouver Winter Olympics which takes place next month.
Cypress Mountain is a great place to ski. It’s about a 30-40 minute drive from Downtown Vancouver and has spectacular [...]
I’m spending more time on reprocessing at the moment than anything else. Partly because I’m interested in how I now approach using Photoshop with images and partly to see how my preferences and taste have changed.
This is a residential building in Downtown Vancouver seen from the Burrard Bridge area.
Shot February 2008; reprocessed January 2010.
A friend once told me that taking pictures of sunsets and claiming photographic prowess for their beauty was just taking credit for God’s work! Whilst possibly true, I still think a good sunset image makes us all happy once in a while. So I hope you enjoy this one!
Shot in June 2008, processed January 2010.
Seen in the Seymore Canyon area of North Vancouver :: November 2007
Processed in photoshop using dreamscape technique :: January 2010
Another 2008 view from Cypress Mountain. This time we are looking north towards Horseshoe Bay.
Many of the 2010 Winter Olympic events will be taking place on Cypress Mountain and the views are spectacular!
Vancouver hosts the 2010 Winter Olympic games this year and I thought it was time to rediscover some of the images from when I was living and studying there in 2007-8.
A night time view (without tripod!) of the Blue Mosque in Istabul :: December 2009.
Taken in December 2009 at the Blue Mosque in Istanbul, Turkey.
This retro looking orange phone booth is just outside one of the bazaars near the Blue Mosque in Istanbul.
Building a brick wall somewhere in Shanghai. I particularly like the warm tones in this image :: October 2009
West of the main city lies Shanghai’s, and probably China’s, biggest construction project underway at this time. There are overhead roads being built from every direction converging on what will be a transport hub for people living in the Shanghai metro district or travelling to places further afield such as Beijing.
I pass through this construction [...]
The Shanghai Art Gallery is has a great location just off Nan Jing Xi Lu and overlooks People’s Square.
Alleyways and city lights is the subject of this posting. Taken one evening in November 2009 just before it started to get really cold in Shanghai. This area near to People’s Square is undergoing major construction and renovation. The ambient lighting around the centre of Shanghai is also pretty crazy at night!
